Central subbing not so bright for Brighton Argus

What a howler in the Brighton Argus today, the first day subbing was switched by publisher Newsquest from Brighton to Southampton, spotted by Brighton-based journalism.co.uk.

Looks like someone put the story through a spell-checker and "Brighton" became "Brighten".

As journalism.co.uk says of the Argus: "Today’s edition brings with it a typo perfectly emblematic of the staff’s complaints that local papers need subs with local knowledge."

Totally deplore the move to centralised subbing, but to be fair this kind of daft typo shouldn't slip through whether the sub's based in Brighton or Aberdeen. It's dumb and you don't need to be local to spot it.
